The Yates Substance Abuse Coalition along with the Penn Yan Elks Lodge #1722 are planning two events called “Moving Forward”, that will focus on heroin and drug treatment updates. Join us to learn more about what has been happening with substance use and prevention in our Yates Community. Come to the Penn Yan event on Tuesday, October 24th at 7:00 PM in the Penn Yan Middle School Auditorium and on Thursday, October 26th at 7:00 PM at the Dundee School Auditorium.

The Yates County Sheriff’s Office will once again participate in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) for the National Take-Back Day, Saturday October 28th from 10AM-2PM. Residents can properly dispose of their expired or unused medications by bringing them to the rear of the Yates County Courthouse where Sheriff’s Officers will take them with no questions asked. Other Permanent drug drop-box locations are also available in the Yates County Public Safety building in Penn Yan, Starkey Town Hall in Dundee, and the Rushville and Phelps village offices.

The Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War is a fraternal organization dedicated to preserving the history and legacy of heroes who fought and worked to save the Union. Organized in 1881 and chartered by Congress in 1954, they are the legal successor to the Grand Army of the Republic. The SUVCW work within in our community preserving graves, monuments and memorials honoring Union heroes.
